About Sarah

From her earliest years, Sarah has been captivated by the power of storytelling through the arts. Her journey led her to graduate with distinction from Toronto Metropolitan University. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Creative Industries with a Music Industry and Acting/Dance focus, a Business Specialization, and a Minor in Music & Culture. Her interactions with top industry professionals enriched Sarah’s education, and she gained extensive experience in talent management, concert and festival management, and various other aspects of the industry. Her desire to help people reach their full potential and understand the transformative impact of music and art on the world has been the driving force behind Sarah's career.

Before university, she attended Cawthra Park Secondary School’s Regional Arts Program as a Music (Vocal) Major and received her Specialized High Skills Major in Arts & Culture. She was on the Dean’s List for TMU’s Faculty of Communication and Design for four consecutive years. She received multiple awards, including the Ontario Arts Medallion, Musical Theatre Award, Excellence and Leadership in Music Award, Dramatic Arts Award, and Outstanding Contribution to Music Award.

Sarah’s journey in the arts has been diverse and enriching, spanning various roles from mentor to performer, from behind the scenes to the business side. She has shared her knowledge and passion as a vocal and piano instructor at multiple music studios in the Greater Toronto Area and an artist development professional. Her leadership and instructional skills were further honed during her tenure as an instructor and Senior Staff supervisor for the City of Mississauga. Sarah’s versatility was demonstrated during her internship as Latin Energy Dance Company’s Marketing Strategist and Designer, working under the guidance of World Latin Dance Cup judge Vanesa Stay.

In April 2023, Sarah stepped up as the new CEO of Hitmakerz after working at the record label since January 2021. Hitmakerz is an innovative social enterprise that champions artists to share their stories, strengthen their culture, and develop sustainable careers in creative industries. Founded in 2016, Hitmakerz started as a record label and touring company specializing in producing Inuit pop music and providing workshops in remote areas of the Canadian Arctic.

Sarah organized the inaugural Arctic Music Conference and Arctic Music Awards in 2023, including keynote speaker Susan Aglukark and performances from artists like Twin Flames, Beatrice Deer, Uyarakq, and more. She recently coordinated and managed the first Nunavut Music Summit in Iqaluit, Nunavut, in February 2024. In 2022, Sarah co-organized the NUPOP concert and event series in Iqaluit, designed to both celebrate and promote Inuit artists and help them become more prepared for global music markets. This series has since had two additional projects, including the NUPOP South concert tour in December 2023 across Toronto, Mississauga, and Hamilton, as well as the NUPOP Pang concert and workshop events in Pangnirtung, Nunavut in February / March 2024. As a mentor, Sarah has worked professionally as a music coach since 2016. In 2021/2022, she was the lead mentor in the Hitmakerz Ajungi Mentorship program. She recently worked with Qaggiavuut, a non-profit organization that advocates for the arts in Nunavut, to manage the Qaggiavuut Artist In Residence Mentorship Program in 2023. Last year, Sarah led a series of networking and music industry events in Ottawa, collaborating with the Ottawa Music Industry Coalition called Fusion.

She was recognized in The Creative School's "Top 5" and will be featured alongside Inuk hip-hop artist Shauna Seeteenak in an upcoming book, Bloom Canada, written by Beka Shane Denter and published by Heritage House Publishing (scheduled for release in Fall 2024). With women representing only 14% of CEOs, chairs, and presidents in the music industry (USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative), Sarah is helping to pave the path.

Sarah is strongly interested in mental health advocacy, gender equality, and Indigenous rights. She studied American Sign Language for two semesters at Toronto Metropolitan University and hopes to continue developing her signing skills and further her Italian proficiency.
